The article examines the issue of establishing a digital economy and reveals the prerequisites of this process. The impact of the digitization process on the activities of organizations and their operational activities has been clarified. The need to transform the traditional model of their management and implement digital transformation tools into it is emphasized.It was revealed that modern organizations have begun to implement digital transformation in order to successfully confront potential obstacles from competitors, increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their functioning, accelerate adaptation to changes in the external environment, etc. It was found that the national economy and domestic organizations have a low level of digital competitiveness, which does not allow them to properly take advantage of the benefits of digitalization. It was established that a relatively small share of domestic enterprises conducts electronic trade, has a high specific share of products sold using electronic trade in its total volume, uses social media, buys cloud computing services, has a website and a chat service for communicating with customers, uses robotics, etc. The need to intensify digitalization of domestic organizations is justified, which should be carried out taking into account the following advice: the basis of digitalization should not be technology, but people and the transformation of business models; the digitization process must be sustainable and focused; one should have information about existing risks and perceive them as an integral part of digital transformation; employees should be interested in digitalization of business processes, explain to them the necessity and advantages of digitalization; it is necessary to ensure a high level of innovation perception; the implementation of digital thinking in the management of key processes, clients and teams is required; successful digitalization is possible only with the participation of all employees. Digitization of the activities of domestic organizations calls for the development and implementation of innovative platforms that would facilitate the acceleration of production processes and data integration, simplify the analysis and preparation of management decisions. In the process of digital transformation of the activities of domestic organizations, the following main trends in this field should be taken into account: robotization of industrial production; use of analytical data based on Big data in modeling and forecasting; intelligent devices and «internet of things»; cloud tools (data storage, processing and calculation); «AR» (augmented reality) and «VR» (virtual reality).
