Theoretical justification of a new regional policy

The main goals, directions, principles and mechanisms of regional policy implementation at different stages of its development are outlined in the article. The necessity and peculiarities of conducting regional policy based on the paradigm of the new regionalism have been shown. The main directions of the new regional policy in Ukraine, which are reduced to interregional integration within the national state, overcoming asymmetry in the levels of regional development, planning and regulation of territorial development, adaptation of regions to the conditions of globalization and increase of regional competitiveness are highlighted
